At the end of February 2024, Prof. Dr. Richard Göbel, head of the Multimedia Information Systems research group at iisys, and Sindy Ribouni, project assistant, flew to Australia at the invitation of Hochschule Bayern e.V.. The aim was to intensify research cooperation between the state of Queensland and Bavaria.
At the workshop at the Queensland University of Technology/Brisbane, two possible project ideas for cooperation were developed: Firstly, the topic of autonomous driving – the research group has already acquired a great deal of expertise in this area through the SMO I and II projects and could contribute this to projects in Australia. Secondly, the question of how domain-specific knowledge can be combined with machine learning was explored.
“I would be delighted if concrete projects were to emerge here, the prospects are indeed very good.”
Prof. Dr. Richard Göbel
The call for proposals is expected to be published in April. The funding initiative is part of the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda.
