Congress shows international perspectives for the future of care

The future of nursing is international, digital and skills-based – this was made impressively clear at the “Global Minds, Local Care” event at Hof University of Applied Sciences. Over 170 nursing professionals, academics and representatives of educational institutions, managers from hospitals, care facilities and professional associations came together to discuss innovative solutions for the integration of international nursing professionals.

“With the international nursing congress, we wanted to initiate an urgently needed dialog on the integration of international nursing professionals and develop practical solutions for the shortage of skilled workers. Our aim is to bring together knowledge about education systems and nursing cultures worldwide in order to promote mutual understanding and present innovative strategies for successful professional integration,” explains Prof. Dr. Matthias Drossel, Professor of Applied Healthcare at Hof University of Applied Sciences and Scientific Director of the congress. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Wolff, Vice President Teaching and Continuing Education at Hof University of Applied Sciences, adds: “Modern nursing training needs international impetus and innovative technologies in order to meet the challenges of the future.”

How integration succeeds in the care sector

Recruiting and integrating foreign nursing professionals can make a significant contribution to combating the shortage of skilled workers. But what skills do international nursing staff bring with them and how can their professional integration be successfully organized? Renowned experts provided insights into best practice solutions and the nursing training and education systems in their countries of origin.

A special focus was placed on the role of innovative learning methods and artificial intelligence. Digital tools and AI-supported training concepts should not only facilitate the integration and qualification of international professionals, but also improve the quality of care in the long term.
