Grab a story, read it aloud, inspire children. That is the idea behind the nationwide Read Aloud Day, which has been held annually since 2004. This year, students of Business Psychology once again took part in the Reading Aloud Day organized by the Reading Foundation on 15 November and offered children aged 3-6 a colourful program in the student café “Zur Auszeit”.
The readers read from the book “Olchis im Zoo” by Erhard Dietl to the packed café. The little ones laughed heartily and explored the zoo together with the Olchis, who got up to all sorts of mischief and really stirred up the zoo. The children’s band “Blue Sky”, taught by Ewa Margareta Cyran at the Hofer Symphoniker music school, provided the musical accompaniment for the evening. Afterwards, Olchi masks were made. And even if the book kangaroos didn’t feel like playing kangaroo bag throwing with the Olchis, the little listeners were able to try their hand at this sport themselves. Our kangaroos were not too bad at throwing bags and so the children were able to throw all kinds of garbage into the kangaroo bags. When it was time to go home, some of the children said goodbye to the readers with a hug.
We would like to thank the university for its financial support of the event. The communications and events team actively supported us in promoting the reading evening. The student café “Zur Auszeit” once again provided the idea with a great venue.
