Practical projects presented: Intelligent solutions for complex problems

Around 3 months ago, students from Hof University of Applied Sciences and companies from Hof and the surrounding area embarked on exciting practical projects to solve complex problems in connection with digital megatrends. Now the time had finally come: The students presented their ideas, solutions and concepts to representatives of the university and partner companies.

By combining the modules “Digital Infrastructure and Internet Technologies in Practice” (Bachelor Business Administration) and “Applied Research Digitization and IT Technologies” (Master Digital Business Management), the responsible lecturers Prof. Dr. Günter Hilmer, Prof. Dr. Christine Brautsch and Tina Wiegand welcomed a large group of students and company representatives to the big closing event at the Digital Gründerzentrum Einstein1.

With a great deal of commitment and passion, the students worked for and with the partner companies on exciting and highly topical issues in the context of digitization and sustainability in a wide range of business areas. For example, one team developed a concept for a ‘Sustainability’ field of expertise for the transformation consultancy Wargitsch Transformation Engineers. In addition, solutions and concepts were worked on in the areas of platform technology, data management, process management and key figure control, digital business models, service offerings and value chains.

During the projects, the students gained deep insights into the products, processes, working methods and culture of their partner companies and were able to deal intensively with their practical challenges and possible solutions. In the process, valuable contacts were made and working in self-organized, agile teams was experienced first-hand throughout the semester. The lecturers and company representatives were always on hand to coach them.

Thestudents outgrew themselves in the process, they creatively mastered challenges that arose and developed innovative solutions, some of which have already been implemented in the companies and some of which are still being implemented.”

We are very proud that this format was so well received and will certainly offer it again – planning for this is already underway.”
