At the Indian cultural evening, organized by Jesús Campos and Maike Schmoch from the FIT project team together with the International Office, numerous guests immersed themselves in the diversity of the subcontinent.

President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lehmann opened the evening and set the mood for a lively program. In a varied block of lectures, students gave exciting insights into India’s religions, traditional textiles, aromatic spices and the colorful festivals of Diwali and Holi. Visitors were able to experience the cultural depth and uniqueness of India at first hand.
In the B-Foyer, visitors could also join in themselves: Interactive workshops – supervised by Indian students – invited visitors to creatively design mandalas, paint diyas and try out classic games such as chess and ludo. Young and old alike got their money’s worth.

The evening also had a lot to offer in terms of food and music: Indian snacks provided authentic taste sensations before Bollywood rhythms got the audience dancing together.
Further impressions

The FIT project, funded by the DAAD and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, promotes exchange between international students and the local population. The cultural evening impressively demonstrated how enriching this exchange can be – and made India seem very close for a few hours.
