On September 15, the running enthusiasts of the region will meet for the Frankenpost company run, which will take place for the first time in Weißenstadt. A running team from Hof University of Applied Sciences will also be taking part, for which it has been possible to register in recent weeks. The university team is coordinated by Aenna Sölch from the personnel department.
Ms. Sölch, what is the attraction of the event – why do we participate as a university?
“The appeal of the company run is certainly that so many people from different regional companies come together to exercise and exchange ideas in nature. For university employees, it provides an opportunity to network beyond their own area of employment. This strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration among the university’s various departments, institutes, faculties and campuses. As a university, it is important for us to offer employees regular measures to promote health and well-being and to create shared, positive experiences. After all, exercise releases happiness hormones. Plus, as always, there’s a good chance you’ll meet familiar faces from other companies and strike up a conversation.”
The company run is less about top performance and more about fun, togetherness and team building. How important are these points in working life?
“Right, one’s own level of performance is not necessarily decisive: ultimately, anyone can take part, regardless of whether they are a runner, a walker or a sports muffler. Fun and team building are very important. With the amount of time we spend in our lives, getting along with each other at work has a huge impact on each of us. A survey conducted by the Human Resources Department on Science Night found that a pleasant work atmosphere, along with flexible work hours, is the most important aspect of why people choose an employer for the long term.”
After all, there are certainly participants who have never been to a company run before: What exactly awaits the team on site?
“The university company run team can look forward to a 5.5 km run around Lake Weißenstadt. The event starts at 4 pm. After a short warm-up at 4:45 p.m., there will be the starting signal at 5 p.m.. After the run there will be the possibility to finish the evening together on site. There will be an after-run party with DJ FabX starting at 7:30 p.m.”
There will also be new T-shirts for the participants again – with what motto?
“Yes, our designers from the university communication department have put a lot of effort into the design of the company run shirt and have commissioned a regional manufacturer – in this case the company Inspo GmbH from Weißdorf – to sew and print the shirts. We are running with the motto “HERE runs the most popular university in Germany” – simply because we as a university are very proud of this award and would like to use this opportunity to once again showcase it to the outside world.”
