For years, CONTACTA HochFranken at Hof University of Applied Sciences has been the meeting place for students seeking competent advice on all aspects of choosing a course of study and a career.
On September 27 and 28, participants can expect an attractive program and a wide range of opportunities to get information and inspiration for their future life and career path during the two-day fair from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. A total of more than 80 exhibitors are involved. Up to 2000 students are expected to attend.
Regional teacher training
CONTACTA HochFranken officially starts already on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in REHAU Audimax B023 with the traditional regional teacher training on the topic “New horizons: artificial intelligence as a tool and challenge in the educational context”. The speaker is Thomas Feyrer, business educator from Amberg. In addition to teachers, the event is of course open to all other interested parties. Registration for Bavarian teachers at state schools is via the FIBS portal. All other guests can register directly via the online registration portal at www.contacta-hochfranken.de to register.
To the prelude meeting, which takes place following the advanced training on 26 September starting from 18.00 o’clock likewise in the Audimax of the university, the organizers expect also in this year well filled rows and numerous guests from schools, economics and service clubs. The panel discussion takes up the theme of the Regional Teacher Training and is entitled “AI in the environment of school, training and study”. Jan Schilling (Master’s student, Faculty of Computer Science, Hof University of Applied Sciences), Moritz Schott (student, Münchberg High School) and Matteo Kind (IT trainee, LAMILUX) will have their say and look forward to a lively exchange. The district administrators of the districts of Hof and Wunsiedel, Dr. Oliver Bär and Peter Berek, will present their experiences on the question “How will AI change your daily work as a district administrator?” in a short statement.
As in the past, however, the focus of the kick-off event will be on projects and seminars for study and career orientation. The Entrepreneur Initiative Hochfranken will award outstanding projects with the P-Seminar Prize 2023.
A subsequent get-together will provide an opportunity for joint exchange.
Fair with many offers
In addition to the Rotarians, the Lions Clubs are also supporting CONTACTA HochFranken again this year. In this context, around 80 executives are expected during the fair, who will tell the students about their personal experiences. The speakers will give a comprehensive insight into their everyday working life, report on their career and on current trends and developments in their professional field. The career information covers 36 occupational fields and 9 interdisciplinary presentations.
Interdisciplinary and application-oriented courses offered by Hof University of Applied Sciences
In addition to the many companies in the region, the Hof University of Applied Sciences will of course also be presenting itself at CONTACTA HochFranken and providing insights into its extensive range of courses. In Hof and at the three other university locations, prospective students can now choose from around 40 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in the fields of engineering, computer science, business and design, and innovation. Through this unique combination of disciplines, students become fit for a networked and digital future. “We are pleased that this year at CONTACTA HochFranken we will once again have the opportunity to comprehensively support future school graduates in their choice of studies and careers, but also to inspire them for our university in particular,” says university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann. Visitors to the fair will also have the opportunity to get to know the laboratories and technical facilities of Hof University of Applied Sciences during a Science and Techlab tour and to explore the library during a guided tour.
Virtual Work Experience
The Virtual Work Experience of the SchuleWirtschaft network offers students the opportunity to gain realistic experience at virtual workplaces using VR goggles. The playful engagement with virtual professional worlds also arouses interest in professions and curiosity about real internships. This gives internships and career recommendations a solid foundation and makes them a worthwhile goal. The graduated levels of difficulty offer attractive, challenging and didactically meaningful experiences for all students, regardless of talent and level of knowledge, which at the same time reflect competencies and support career orientation.
