During the general meeting of the Society of Friends and Sponsors of Hof University, Dr. Michael Braun of Rödl & Partner was elected to the board of the society. The board voted unanimously for him to also assume the office of treasurer with immediate effect.
After the general meeting had to be held digitally last year, the Society of Friends and Supporters of Hof University of Applied Sciences was able to invite its members to a presence event at the university again this year. A total of over 52,000.00 euros in funding was made available in 2021, making projects possible for which no public funds were available.
Prizes for outstanding graduates and donation from VR Bank Bayreuth – Hof
Dr. Dorothee Strunz, chairwoman of the board, reported on the concrete activities of the association. After the Hof University of Applied Sciences received a new logo including a new corporate identity last year, the sponsoring association also adapted its logo to this new design at the turn of the year. In the meantime, the annual awarding of two outstanding graduates of Hof University with prize money of 500.00 euros each has become a tradition, as has the donation of the VR Banken Bayreuth – Hof eG. During the meeting, Dr. Dorothee Strunz thanked the representatives of VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof eG who were present for their annual donation of 5,000.00 euros. This was used in 2021 in favor of the association HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. as support for the construction of a new racing car.
Awards 2020 and 2021 presented during the Dies Academicus
In 2021, for the fifth time in a row, the award “Digitaler Aufbruch der Lehre” (“Digital awakening of teaching”), endowed with 10,000.00 euros, was offered to honor new, forward-looking teaching and learning concepts at Hof University. The award winners were honored during the Dies Academicus, which took place at the university at the end of April. For their concept “iLE – immersive learning and experience” Prof. Dr. Sebastian Leuoth and Prof. Dr. René Peinl received the Award 2021. After there could be no award ceremony in presence due to the pandemic in 2020, Jürgen Rubitzko with his submission “Remote controlled execution of practicals at laboratory setups in student teamwork!” was still awarded with the Award 2020 in this context. The chairwoman of the board thanked the organizers of the Dies Academicus at Hof University of Applied Sciences. The event was initiated by Prof. Dr. Valentin Plenk, the winner of the 2017 “Digital Awakening of Teaching” award. The event was partly financed with his prize money from the sponsoring society.
Positive balance of the treasurer
Treasurer Ute Coenen, Rödl & Partner GmbH, also drew a positive balance for the accounting year 2021 in her last financial report. The spent promotion means at a value of over 52,000.00 euro stand approximately 68,000.00 euro incomes from membership dues and donations opposite. Despite a slightly declining number of members, the amount of membership fees could be increased compared to 2020, as a new premium member could be won with dennree GmbH. The cash auditors Bernd Schnabel and Michael Mauerer had nothing to complain about during the cash audit.
Dr. Michael Braun elected to the board
After the previous treasurer Ute Coenen left the board after 13 years, Dr. Michael S. Braun was unanimously elected as her successor to the board during the meeting. The lawyer is branch manager of Rödl & Partner GmbH in Hof and will also take over the office of treasurer in the future.
