Hof University of Applied Sciences and the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) have been working closely together for six years now. Since the end of 2021, the two educational institutions have been linked by the so-called HELD project of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The two universities have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday, April 19, with which they are initiating even closer cooperation in areas such as the exchange of students and teaching staff, the access of BUTEX students to the Bachelor Innovative Textiles and the access of BUTEX Bachelor graduates to the Master Sustainable Textiles at Hof University of Applied Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Shah Alimuzzaman, Vice Chancellor of BUTEX and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Valentin Plenk, Vice President Research and Development of Hof University of Applied Sciences, signed a far-reaching Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of a delegation from BUTEX, representatives of Hof University of Applied Sciences, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the University Grants Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and employees of GIZ, in which they agreed on the following points, among others:
- Easier access for BUTEX Bachelor graduates to the Master Sustainable Textiles at Hof University of Applied Sciences through extensive recognition of academic achievements
- Access for BUTEX students to the Bachelor’s degree in Innovative Textiles
- A double-degree agreement is being sought
- Possible cooperative doctorate opportunities for graduates and employees of both universities
- Exchange of students and teaching staff
- Joint research projects
The delegation then visited the Münchberg campus, the companies Adidas and BASF and took part in the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt.
