Students can order the Bavarian discount ticket from the VGN or its sales partner VAG from September 11. After trainees and volunteers, everyone enrolled at Bavarian universities will now also benefit from the discounted ticket. The ticket will then be valid from
October 1. The ticket is issued as a digital subscription and, like every Deutschlandticket, can be canceled monthly. For 29 euros per month, students can use local and regional public transport throughout Germany.
https://www.vgn.de/ermaessigungsticket-studiDerThe Free State of Bavaria subsidizes the Deutschlandticket with 20 euros per month. Students at universities in the VGN including the extension areas of Hof, Coburg, Tirschenreuth, Wunsiedel, Kulmbach and Kronach can obtain the ticket as a HandyTicket in the VGN online store under MeinAbo or via the apps VGN Fahrplan & Tickets and NürnbergMOBIL.
The majority of universities support the eligibility check via the digital university registration, students do not need a form there as proof of eligibility. Whether they are entitled to a discount ticket is automatically checked during the purchase process via the registration with the
university access.
A list of universities that still require a stamped form can be found at

Further offers for students
At some universities in the VGN area there are solidary semester tickets, which are paid in advance by all students with the semester fee. Here it is possible to buy a
Bavarian discount ticket as an upgrade to the existing semester ticket. In this case, the semester ticket price will be credited to the price of the Bavarian discount ticket so that there is no double burden.
This is the case at the universities in Bamberg and Bayreuth, the University of Protestant Church Music in Bayreuth as well as the universities in Hof and Coburg and the OTH Amberg-Weiden.
