Last Saturday, the Souvenir Concept Store at Ludwigstraße 41 in Hof was abuzz: Eight guests learned how to upholster a seat cushion (almost) from scratch. With thread remnants from Konradsreuth, which were created during the weaving of fabrics, inlets sponsored by the textile manufactory anna blume were filled and beaten to shape. With the guidance and active support of the experienced interior decorators Ulrike Pöhlmann and Isabell Korn, students at the Institute for Material Science at Hof University of Applied Sciences (ifm) in Münchberg, fleece covers and fabric covers made of material from Hitex Manufaktur Rohleder were pulled around the resulting cushions, sewn with upholstery needles and finished with garnishing stitches.
The workshop delighted all participants, who took home their cushions and a lot of new know-how. Information about the origins of the craft, sustainability in interior design and in the textile sector was on top.
