Original Hofer Children’s University: Around 60 children come to the university for a research day

On the school-free Day of Prayer and Repentance, the time had finally come again: the popular original Hof Children’s University could take place again after a two-year break due to Corona. Around 60 children between the ages of 8 and 12 were offered the usual exciting and varied program as part of an entire research day at the Hof campus.

Divided into groups, all children attended a total of four different workshops from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on the following topics:

  • “How do companies make money with computer games?”
  • “Why fish and plants are good friends.”
  • “Web and Apps – we design digital tools!”
  • “Why can a robot sing, dance and play ball?”

The workshops, which the professors have prepared especially for the Children’s University, are not unlike a classic lecture, but just enriched with effective experiments and opportunities to participate

During a joint lunch break, the students were able to fortify themselves with pizza and drinks.

The children were enthusiastic about the program of the Children’s University Researchers’ Day and the professors were also impressed by the unbridled thirst for knowledge, the great interest and the many questions that the students asked about all the topics.

The organizing team was particularly pleased with the great response to the invitation to the Children’s University; unfortunately, the university was far from being able to accommodate all the interested children this year.

The next Children’s University Research Day for next year is already being planned. Children and parents can find all the information they need at https://www.hof-university.de/studium/informationen/schuelerangebote/kinderuni.html.
