Prof. Dr.-Ing. Plenk new Vice President Research and Development

Congratulations! At the meeting of the University Council, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Valentin Plenk was elected as the new Vice President Research and Development for a term of three years.

The outgoing Vice President Research and Development of Hof University, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Ficker and his successor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Valentin Plenk with President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann, Chancellor Dagmar Pechstein as well as Vice President Teaching Prof. Dr. Dietmar Wolff.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Plenk, who has been the scientific director of the Institute for Information Systems at Hof University of Applied Sciences (iisys) since 01.10.2017, intends to work harder in his new role to further improve internal processes at the university: “I want to create an organization that gives research colleagues the essential freedom and the greatest possible support for their work. In parallel, I want to ensure good networking among the institutes in this rapidly growing area.”

I am concerned with improving the presentation of the great achievements and the significance of the university and its institutes for the region and beyond.

In addition to these tasks, he would also like to take the “Forschende Hochschule Hof” even more outward: “My aim is to further improve the presentation of the great achievements and the importance of the university and its institutes for the region and beyond.”

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Ficker remains Scientific Director of ifm

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Plenk succeeds Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Ficker as vice president. The latter continues as scientific director of the Institute for Material Sciences (ifm) and will increasingly take care of the Münchberg site with the new technical center focusing on textile technology and air conditioning at Hof University of Applied Sciences. He is also head of the Application Center for Textile Fiber Ceramics TFK in Münchberg.

The University Council is the highest body of the university, comparable to the supervisory board of a company. Its tasks include the election of the university management.
