There was a reason to celebrate for Prof. Dr. Richard Göbel: the Professor of Multimedia Information Systems at the Faculty of Computer Science celebrated his 40th anniversary of service. University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann congratulated Prof. Göbel and thanked him for his many years of dedicated service.

Prof. Dr. Richard Göbel completed his degree in computer science at the Technical University in Darmstadt in 1982. He received his doctorate in artificial intelligence from the University of Kaiserlautern in 1988 (Dr. rer. nat). In 1988 and 1989, Prof. Göbel headed the Design Systems group at AID GmbH. From 1989 to 1997, he worked at the German Aerospace Center as a scientific employee and project manager and was responsible for various projects in the field of information systems. As part of this activity, Prof. Göbel was also responsible for the coordination of various international projects, such as the Catalogue Interoperability Experiment (CINTEX) of the most important space facilities.
Richard Göbel has been a professor at Hof University of Applied Sciences since 1997. Since 2010, he has headed the Multimedia Information Systems research group at the Institute for Information Systems (iisys).
