In 2014, Hof University of Applied Sciences was the first Bavarian university to successfully complete the system accreditation process. This distinction has now been achieved once again. The seal confirms that it has a functioning quality management system, which forms the basis for high-quality teaching.
After the introduction of a central quality management in 2009, Hof University of Applied Sciences had gone through the process of system accreditation at the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN e.V.) for the first time in 2014. After the amendment of the Model Law Ordinance and the Bavarian Study Accreditation Ordinance in 2018, the inspections and expert rounds with external experts were scheduled in 2019 and then delayed by Corona until 2022. This involved numerous members of the university from university management, faculties, various departments and students. Subsequently, the quality management system was evaluated by the Accreditation Council. With a decision dated 22.09.2022, the Hof University of Applied Sciences has now been “granted accreditation of the quality management system of the Hof University of Applied Sciences” by the Accreditation Council.
“With the re-system accreditation, the autonomy of our university in study and teaching is further strengthened. This means that we do not have to have our bachelor’s and master’s degree programs accredited individually by an external agency at regular intervals, but can accredit them ourselves. This gives us a certain degree of independence in designing our quality assurance system.” And further

About the system accreditation
The subject of the system accreditation is the internal quality assurance system of the university. A positive system accreditation certifies to the university that its quality management system is suitable to guarantee the achievement of the qualification goals and the quality standards of its study programs. The requirements for system accreditation are based on the model legal ordinance of the Accreditation Council and the Bavarian Study Accreditation Ordinance. Study programs that are established according to the criteria of the system-accredited quality management system or that already meet these criteria after review by internal accreditation procedures are then accredited.
