The 42nd Winter Championships of the Bavarian universities took place in Bayerisch Eisenstein in 2026 and were hosted by Landshut University of Applied Sciences. In wintry conditions and a great atmosphere, employees from all over Bavaria came together to compete in various sporting disciplines and promote cross-university exchange.
A total of 15 universities with around 150 participants took part in the curling discipline alone. The sporting program was supplemented by the disciplines of alpine skiing, biathlon and cross-country skiing, which were also very popular.
This year, the Hof University of Applied Sciences team was represented by 11 participants, who competed exclusively in the curling discipline. In contrast to previous years, the focus was entirely on this traditional winter sport. The team was divided into two groups and took on the challenge on the ice.

In curling, the main requirements were dexterity, precision and team spirit. The aim was to place one’s own curling sticks as close as possible to the stave and thus secure valuable points. The competitions were characterized by high concentration, exciting duels and a fair atmosphere.
The effort paid off: One of the Hof University teams achieved a remarkable 5th place in the overall standings – a strong result considering the great competition and the high number of participants.
Overall, the Winter Championships 2026 were a complete success and, in addition to sporting achievements, also offered numerous opportunities for exchange and networking between the Bavarian universities. For the Hof University of Applied Sciences team, the event will be remembered not only for its sporting success, but also for the shared experience.

The next championships will take place in February 2027 in Inzell, Bavaria, and will be hosted by Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences.
