New Study Findings: Bavarian Companies Caught Between the Need to Innovate and Economic Pressure

As part of its city lecture series, the university invites you to its next public event at its Kronach campus. Under the title “Bavarian Companies Between the Demand for Innovation and Economic Pressure,” Stefan Wengler from the Institute for Information Systems (iisys) will present the key findings of the market study “Bayern Innovativ 2026,” which was conducted by the European Management Institute e.V. at Hof University of Applied Sciences on behalf of Bayern Innovativ.

Based on a survey of 480 Bavarian companies, the study examines their innovation activities amid the tension between their own innovation aspirations and current economic pressures, key challenges, and economic expectations. “Compared to the previous study from 2024, there are both continuities—such as bureaucracy remaining the biggest challenge—and notable shifts, such as in the importance of innovation-related topics compared to short-term issues like sales and costs,” said Wengler, who is a professor of marketing and sales and a research group leader at the Institute for Information Systems at Hof University of Applied Sciences. He recently assumed the presidency of the Global Sales Science Institute. For the term from 2026 to 2028, he will lead the international network of sales researchers from around the world.

Attendance at the City Lecture is free of charge and is specifically aimed at the citizens of Kronach, businesses in the region, and those in the surrounding counties. The City Lecture offers an accessible insight into the new study.
