Final conference “ii.oo – Digital competence-oriented testing” at Munich University of Applied Sciences

On October 30, Munich University of Applied Sciences and all partner universities are hosting the final conference of the joint project “ii.oo – Implementing digital competence-oriented testing”, in which Hof University of Applied Sciences is also involved (“campuls-digital” reported). The all-day event offers impulses, lectures and hands-on formats relating to a digital competence-oriented examination culture. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.

Together with 50 participating lecturers, the project has so far implemented and evaluated over 350 digital examinations – including e-portfolios, open book formats, simulation tasks and practical questions.
The aim of “ii.oo” was to align examination tasks more closely with real-life professional situations, promote transferability and problem-solving skills and make targeted use of selected digital tools and media – e.g. drag-and-drop or automated feedback. Special attention should be paid to consistently coordinating learning objectives, teaching methods and examinations to ensure reliable, skills-oriented teaching and learning quality.

Hof University of Applied Sciences with a strong presence

Hof University of Applied Sciences was one of the most active partners in the project and is represented several times at the final conference:

  • Dr. Harvey Harbach will be speaking on the topic of “Strengthening students and making their skills visible with e-portfolio exams”
  • Prof. Dr. Franz Xaver Boos and Prof. Dr. Michaela Gebele will speak on “E-Portfolio: A format that brings the practical semester to life”
  • In the “Gallery Walk”, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Paul Molenda, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Leuoth, Dr. Harvey Harbach and Prof. Dr. Walter Kern will present their good practice examples in the form of posters and exhibits
  • In addition, results from four different work packages of the project will be presented.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Wolff, Vice President Teaching and Project Manager at Hof University of Applied Sciences, emphasizes the importance of the project for teaching:

Students are given a clear orientation as to what they should learn and how this knowledge is tested. What is tested is no longer acquired knowledge, but above all the ability to apply it in practice.” He also emphasizes: “We therefore offer the opportunity to benefit from the experiences and findings of our good practice teachers and to try it out for yourself – regardless of whether you have already had contact with digital testing or are just starting out.”
