Congratulations on 25 years of service: We congratulate Sonja Ramming

In November 2025, Sonja Ramming, an employee of our university library, celebrated 25 years of service. She has been part of the university team since October 2003 and it is impossible to imagine the university library without her. She laid her professional foundations with her training at the Bavarian Library School in Munich, a department of the Bavarian State Library, which is now known as the Bavarian Library Academy. She completed her training in the intermediate library service from November 2000 to November 2002, learning both the theoretical and practical aspects of librarianship. The practical training phases took her to the Bamberg University Library, the Bamberg State Library and the Bamberg City Library.

After a further year of professional experience at Ansbach University Library, Sonja Ramming moved to Hof University of Applied Sciences. Her work here focuses in particular on teaching information skills. In training courses for students, staff and pupils – in both German and English – she shows how academic databases can be used effectively and purposefully. Her focus is not only on research techniques, but above all on conveying confidence in dealing with scientific information.

What Sonja Ramming particularly appreciates about her job is the wide variety of tasks in the university library. In addition to training courses, her day-to-day work also includes user services, cataloging, interlibrary loans and other library activities. The variety and constant new challenges ensure that every day is different.

She is also open to the latest developments. Together with the university library team, for example, she picks up on current developments and looks at possible areas of application for artificial intelligence in library services, among other things.”

For her, the positive, solution-oriented team spirit and openness to new ideas are what make the working atmosphere at Hof University Library so special.

I’m looking forward to the future and am happy to continue being part of Hof University!”
