For years, CONTACTA HochFranken at Hof University of Applied Sciences has been the meeting place for pupils looking for expert advice on choosing a course of study and a career.
On September 25 and 26, participants can expect an attractive program and a wide range of opportunities to obtain information and inspiration for their future life and career path during the two-day fair from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. A total of more than 80 exhibitors will be taking part. Up to 1200 pupils from 15 schools are expected to attend. CONTACTA HochFranken is organized by Hof University of Applied Sciences, the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Hof working group and the region’s service clubs.
The work of the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT network is more important today than ever, because the strong social change and the changing expectations of young people make it necessary to take the whole personality into consideration. It is therefore all the more important to motivate young people to gain as many insights into working life as possible during their youth and to orient themselves towards a wide variety of professions after graduation.”
Dr. Dorothee Strunz, Chairwoman of Business at the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Hof working group
Regional teacher training
CONTACTA HochFranken officially starts on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in Audimax B023 with the traditional regional teacher training course on the topic of “Psychological problems in young people at school and in training: Causes. Symptoms and help”. The speaker will be Prof. Dr. med. Michael Frey, Professor of Biopsychosocial Medicine from Deggendorf.
In addition to teachers, the event is of course also open to all other interested parties. Bavarian state school teachers can register via the FIBS portal. All other guests can register directly via the online registration portal at www.contacta-hochfranken.de.
Kick-off event
The organizers are once again expecting a full house and numerous guests from schools, business and service clubs for the kick-off event, which will also take place in the university’s Audimax after the training course on 24 September from 18:00. Maniana Füg, sixth form coordinator at Jean-Paul-Gymnasium Hof, will give a keynote speech on the topic of “Possibilities and opportunities of the P-Seminar in the nine-year grammar school”. As in the past, the focus of the kick-off event will be on projects and seminars on study and career guidance. The Unternehmerinitiative Hochfranken awards the P-Seminar Prize 2024 to outstanding projects. For the first time, two winning seminars from the nine-year grammar school will be awarded the P-Seminar Prize in addition to three winning seminars from the eight-year grammar school. A subsequent get-together will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas.
“This year, CONTACTA is addressing the question of “how those responsible in schools and in education can react well to psychological problems in young people and act in a helpful way”, explains Dr. Dorothee Strunz.
Fair with many offers
In addition to the three Rotary Clubs, four Lions Clubs are once again supporting CONTACTA HochFranken this year. In this context, around 80 managers are expected to report on their personal experiences to the students in four lecture slots during the fair. The speakers will provide a comprehensive insight into their everyday working life, report on their careers and on current trends and developments in their professional field. With a total of 142 presentations, the career information covers over 30 professional fields and various interdisciplinary topics.
Interdisciplinary and application-oriented degree programs at Hof University of Applied Sciences
In addition to the many companies in the region, Hof University of Applied Sciences will of course also be presenting itself at CONTACTA HochFranken and providing insights into its extensive range of courses. In Hof and at the three other university locations, prospective students can now choose from over 40 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the fields of engineering, computer science, business and design as well as innovation. This unique combination of disciplines prepares students for a networked and digital future.
We are delighted that we will once again have the opportunity at CONTACTA HochFranken this year to provide future school leavers with comprehensive support in their choice of studies and career, but also to generate enthusiasm for our university in particular.”
University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann
Visitors to the fair will also have the opportunity to get to know the laboratories and technical facilities at Hof University of Applied Sciences during a Science and Techlab tour and to explore the library during a guided tour.
Introduction of a trade fair app
in 2024, we will introduce an accompanying, web-based trade fair app for desktop, tablet and smartphone, which does not have to be downloaded from the AppStore or PlayStore, but can be used directly via the website https://events.hof-university.de/contacta/hochfranken. There you will find everything you need to know about CONTATCA HochFranken 2024.
All important information can be found here, such as the exhibitor list from A to Z, the entire lecture program from the beginning of September and lots of accompanying information about the companies’ offerings.
The big advantage: if you register on the site, you can create your own individual lecture and trade fair schedule. Participants can also save their favorite companies in a favorites list. In addition to the appropriate contact persons, there is also a link to the relevant stand location or links to the exhibitor’s website and social media. Our interactive room plan makes it quick and easy to find the stands and lecture rooms.
The new trade fair app not only makes CONTACTA HochFranken more digital and interactive, but also more sustainable, as it saves a lot of paper, such as the printed trade fair guide, which has only been available as a digital download since this year.
