During his stay in Germany, Achim Burkart, the German Consul General in Bangalore, India, visited Hof University of Applied Sciences for the first time. Already in November last year, university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann and Wiebke Dörfler, Managing Director of the Bavarian-Indian Center for Business and Higher Education (BayIND), visited his consulate in Bangalore.
After a short welcome by the President and a guided tour of Hof University, the participants exchanged views on a wide range of topics. In particular, discussions focused on the cooperation between Bavaria and Karnataka, an Indian state with Bangalore as its capital, in the field of national education policy
I am very pleased that Achim Burkart found the time to visit our university. For years, our relations with India have been particularly strong in the area of international scientific cooperation. This is particularly evident in the very high number of young people from India studying at our university – something we are very proud of!”
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann
Intensive exchange with Indian students
Another item on the program was subsequently the exchange with Indian students at Hof University of Applied Sciences
“During his visit, Achim Burkart found out about the long-standing, intensive relationships we have here at the university with India and the various partners there.”
Susanne Krause, Head of the International Office at Hof University of Applied Sciences
And further: “Although he only visited for a few hours, he took a lot of time, especially for a conversation with Indian students of the advanced training master Sustainability Management”, says Susanne Krause, Head of the International Office at Hof University of Applied Sciences.
The new master’s program in Sustainability Management (M.B.A. and Eng.) is a joint program between Vishwakarma University, Pune, India and Hof University of Applied Sciences. What is unique about this program is that all students have the opportunity to study sustainability management in both India and Germany. They thus gain their experience in an emerging country and in an industrialized nation.
