Those who learn and work a lot are also allowed to celebrate – especially after the completion of the exams. The next and best opportunity to do so will be as early as Friday, when the Hofer Volksfest 2022 starts: From July 29 to August 7, 2022, there will be celebrations on the Volksfestplatz at the Hofer Freiheitshalle and on the neighboring Nailaer Straße. The Hofer Volksfest is one of the largest festivals of its kind in the region and is already entering its 110th year. With its attractions and above all its culinary delights, it is sure to attract many of our students again this year – after two Corona-related cancellations. “Campuls-digital” gives you a few tips on how you can best enjoy the Hof Festival of Festivals.
Folk festival parade
On Friday, July 29, 2022, the Volksfest parade will take place starting at 5 p.m., followed by the beer tapping ceremony by Hof’s mayor Eva Döhla. The procession with 55 participating associations and institutions takes the following route through the city center of Hof: City Hall – Ludwigstraße – Old Town – Luitpoldstraße – Marienstraße – Konrad-Adenauer-Platz – Schützenstraße – Kulmbacher Straße. As every year, thousands of visitors are expected along the route
Instead of marquee: Volksfest garden with 3000 seats
Even if there is unfortunately no festival tent this year, the “beer mile” at the Nailaer street invites the visitors: A comfortable beer garden offers thereby over 3000 places, of which about 1500 will be roofed. The beer price will be 10.20 euros – only beer from the two Hof breweries Scherdel and Meinel will be served. In addition, the food on offer will range from traditional Hofer bratwursts to langos, pizza, knuckles and vegetarian dishes.
Rides
With the “Skyfall”, the highest transportable free fall tower in the world will make a guest appearance in Hof. After passengers are pulled all the way to the top, they can enjoy a breathtaking view until they surprisingly fall into the void. This promises pure thrills. For those who prefer a more leisurely ride, the traditional Ferris wheel, among others, is the right choice. But of course there is a much larger selection of rides at the fairground
Drone show instead of fireworks
Due to the weather, there will be no traditional folk festival fireworks this year. For the first time, however, it will be replaced by a drone show: on August 5th, 50 drones equipped with LED lights will draw impressive pictures in the night sky to atmospheric music.
“Volksfest Nights”
For those who want to continue partying after the festival, the “Club aber herzlich” (Marienstr. 11) offers the “Volksfest-Nights”. Altogether 5 times (29.07./30.07/04.08/05.08. and 06.08.) one can let the largest Hofer celebration end.
