For high-quality training: VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof supports HofSpannung

VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof eG supports the HofSpannung e.V. association with a donation of EUR 5,000. The funds come from the net proceeds of the VR Bank profit savings. The project, which is based at Hof University of Applied Sciences, constructs electric racing cars and participates in the international Formula Student racing series with them. As part of this work, the students receive excellent practical training in areas such as mechanics, electrics and software development.

Great joy: Jürgen Handke (r.) hands over the 5000-EUR check to Lea Schmidt and Johannes Dietrich from the association “HofSpannung Motorsport e.V.” – Dr. Dorothee Strunz, Chairwoman of the Society of Friends and Sponsors of Hof University of Applied Sciences e.V. (l.) and university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann congratulated cordially; Picture: Hof University of Applied Sciences;

The HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. association existed at Hof University of Applied Sciences since 2012. Its goal is to develop and manufacture functional, electric racing cars with which students from all disciplines compete against other teams at international events. The students involved in the club invest many hours of their free time in developing the models. “The knowledge they acquire in the process makes those involved highly sought-after workers after graduation, who are urgently needed in many areas of the economy,” says Jürgen Handke, Chairman of the Board of VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof eG, explaining his institution’s decision to donate. He continues:

We would like to specifically promote this meaningful combination of studies and practical knowledge and thus also reward the outstanding commitment of the young people.”

Increased costs are compensated

The association is currently at the end of the development and construction of a new vehicle and is in the middle of manufacturing and implementation. Some components are already on site, others are in production and some still have to be ordered. The donation is very helpful in this process

This support makes it possible for us to continue despite greatly increased manufacturing costs, enormous material prices and supply bottlenecks.”

Lea Schmidt, 1st director HofSpannung Motorsport e.V.

“Thanks to the money, we can pay for the material and manufacturing of our innovative motor mounts, among other things,” said Lea Schmidt, 1st director of the HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. association, thanking the donors.

Self-developed components commissioned

In very concrete terms, the donation can now be used to commission, among other things, self-developed circuit boards for monitoring and controlling the 400-volt battery of the racing vehicle. “The realization of these components represents a major step forward for the team in the direction of lightweight construction and system optimization and makes a significant contribution to improved vehicle performance. These further developments will allow us to build on past successes at international events in the summer and perhaps even surpass them,” explains Johannes Dietrich, 2nd board member of the club.

Thanks to VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof for long-term commitment

The fact that the support of the credit institute is not a matter of course was made clear at the donation presentation by university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann and Dr. Dorothee Strunz, chairwoman of the society of the friends and sponsors of Hof University:

VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof once again demonstrates the high value they place on the education of young people; and rightly so, because the future of our country lies in the hands of well-trained and highly qualified young people. On behalf of Hof University, we would like to express our sincere thanks for this support.”
