Around 60 pupils from the Bayreuth technical college visited Hof University of Applied Sciences in July and took the opportunity to get a taste of student life. The business and technology classes as well as the integration class were invited – and a varied and informative program was offered for everyone.

The classes were welcomed by student recruiters Galina Wolf and Melanie Fiedler-Zapf. In an entertaining presentation, Galina Wolf not only introduced the degree programs and locations of the university, but also gave personal insights into student life in Hof – from the family atmosphere and affordable housing options to many first-hand accounts of her experiences. This was followed by a comprehensive tour of the campus: the students not only got to know the university buildings, but also the Einstein1 start-up center with its roof terrace, the halls of residence and indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The visit was rounded off with a culinary lunch in the canteen.
Melanie Fiedler-Zapf then provided the groups with specific information on the topics of “dual studies” and “student finance” – two aspects that are often a particular focus when choosing a course of study.

The feedback from the young people was consistently positive. Samir from class F11Wa said: “The day was very informative. We learned a lot about studying at Hof University of Applied Sciences, got to know the site and saw how many opportunities the university offers us. Many of the class were very enthusiastic and definitely want to study in Hof.” Justin was also surprised: “This is my first time at the university and I was pleasantly surprised. I was given a lot of important information, for example about the degree courses and what suits me. The university looks very clean and modern – I could well imagine studying here, also because the maintenance costs are reasonable.” For Darijo, the atmosphere was particularly impressive: “It wasn’t just the training opportunities and career prospects that were extremely interesting, I was also impressed by the atmosphere at the university. Even at the information event, you feel that you are in good hands both socially and professionally.”
The visit to the FOS Bayreuth is part of a wide-ranging school program at Hof University of Applied Sciences, which is individually adapted depending on the type of school and interests. For other groups, the program also includes laboratory tours – for example in the fields of mechanical engineering, textile technology or environmental technology – as well as lectures by professors or a visit to the MakerSpace.
