Hof University of Applied Sciences is sending out an important signal for the expansion of its health sector: a delegation from the partner university Turku University of Applied Sciences from Finland visited the campus. The aim was to explore opportunities for closer cooperation in the field of health and to intensify existing contacts.

The Finnish delegation consisted of Soini Juhani, Vice President Research, Development and Innovation, Anne Isotalo, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, Mirka Toivonen, Research Group Leader Health Development in a Hybrid World, Katja Heikkinen, Head of Master’s Programs in Health. With their visit, the Finnish guests underlined the great interest of the Finnish partner university in a more intensive exchange.
During their stay, the delegation learned about the focal points and projects of Hof University of Applied Sciences and talked to lecturers, researchers and managers. In addition to presentations and discussions, the focus was also on direct exchanges about research and teaching approaches. It became clear that both institutions see great potential in closer cooperation. The program included a presentation of the health-related courses on offer, discussions with subject representatives and a tour of the campus. The guests visited the campus in Hof, the Bamberg campus and the Kronach campus, which is increasingly establishing itself as a key location for innovative health science courses. The visit was rounded off with a joint workshop in which specific points of contact for research and teaching projects were discussed.

At the same time, Hof University of Applied Sciences was able to give its Finnish guests a comprehensive insight into the German healthcare system as well as the academic training and current research and transfer projects of Hof University of Applied Sciences in the healthcare sector through visits to the practical partners of Hof University of Applied Sciences, the Hofer Land Care Center, Caritas Kronach, the Helios Frankenwaldklinik Kronach and the Bamberg Social Foundation with the Bamberg Academies.
In future, we want to work more closely together in research and teaching in order to expand the healthcare sector as a future field. So far, the partnership with Turku UAS has only existed in the field of economics. The aim was therefore to get to know and understand each other better in the health sector too – this is the only way to create long-term, sustainable partnerships.”
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Wolff, Vice President Teaching at Hof University of Applied Sciences;
The guests were also given a cultural insight into Hof University’s locations, with guided tours through Hof together with the German-Finnish Society, through the cellars of Kronach and the World Heritage old town of Bamberg.
