Hof University welcomes cabinet decision on more classroom teaching

Munich/Hof – In its meeting on July 27, 2021, the Bavarian Cabinet paved the way for more face-to-face teaching at Bavarian universities. According to this, classroom teaching is possible there with a 7-day incidence of no more than 100 even if the minimum distance of 1.5 m cannot be maintained between all students throughout. In all other respects it remains with the existing defaults, in particular with the FFP2-Maskenpflicht – so the Ministerial Council resolution. Hof University of Applied Sciences warmly welcomes this decision and intends to conduct the 2021/22 winter semester with students in attendance.

“The Free State of Bavaria thus creates the long-awaited planning security for the winter semester 2021/22. For our part, as Hof University of Applied Sciences, we had already confirmed our will to have the coming semester take place in presence. This has now been confirmed by the politicians. I am sure that the decision will meet with the approval of a broad majority of students and teaching staff.”

And further: “All available data show that online teaching can only be a supplement, but not a substitute for face-to-face teaching. It is now necessary to further increase vaccination rates in order to resolutely counter the risk of exceeding the established incidence threshold of 100 and to achieve the targeted herd immunity as early as possible. We will also ask our students once again to be vaccinated,” said university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann in a first reaction.

The winter semester at Bavaria’s universities begins on October 01, 2021
