Hof University in the 2026 CHE Ranking – Study Conditions Receive Very Positive Ratings

Hof University of Applied Sciences is represented in several degree programs in the latest CHE University Ranking, receiving consistently good to very good ratings. The evaluation is based on student feedback, which focuses in particular on the organization of the program, academic support, and the overall academic environment.

The programs included at Hof University are Business Informatics (Faculty of Computer Science) as well as Business Administration, Business Psychology, and Business Law (all in the Faculty of Economics). “The results show that our students perceive and reflect on their study conditions in a nuanced and very conscious manner. For us, this feedback is an important foundation for the further development of our programs,” said University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann.

Business Informatics: Very Good Ratings in Key Areas of the Program

The Business Informatics program is rated by students as significantly above average in 11 out of 12 evaluation categories. These include, in particular, the general study environment (4.4 out of 5), the international focus (8 out of 10), the organization of the program (4.4 out of 5), and the support provided by faculty (4.4). The support services offered at the start of the program are also rated as very good.

“The combination of computer science and business in particular places special demands on the program structure. This makes it all the more important that students perceive clear organization and reliable support here.”

Prof. Dr. Andrej Bachmann, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science.

Business Administration: Students Highlight Support and Organization

In the Business Administration program at the Faculty of Economics, the results reflect that students rate both the support provided by faculty (4.4 out of 5) and the program organization, the general study environment, and the support (4.3 each) very positively. The support services offered at the start of the program and the connection to professional practice are rated as exemplary by the surveyed students.

Business Law: High Ratings for Course Offerings and Support

For the Business Law program, also housed in the School of Economics, comparable ratings emerge across various categories: Students rate both faculty support (4.4), the course offerings (4.4), and the general study environment (4.3) positively. The program also ranks among the top group when it comes to support at the start of studies.

Business Psychology: Focus on Structured Study Conditions

In the Business Psychology program, students rate the organization of their studies particularly positively (4.4). The support provided by faculty (4.3) and the support services offered at the start of the program are also rated as very good in the rankings.

“The feedback shows that students particularly appreciate the personal attention and the structured design of the program.”

Prof. Dr. Jens Kirchner, Dean of the Faculty of Economics

Intensive support at the start of studies

Across multiple degree programs, it is evident that support services at the start of studies play an important role. These include, for example, preparatory programs, introductory sessions, and accompanying measures during the initial phase of studies. Students take these aspects into account accordingly in the ranking.

“The transition from high school to college is a crucial phase. That is why we invest specifically in programs that make the transition easier and provide orientation.”

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Wolff, Vice President for Teaching and Continuing Education

The organization of teaching, the facilities in classrooms and the university library, as well as digital teaching, were also consistently and repeatedly praised. In all four degree programs, Hof University ranks above the national average in these areas. “We are pleased that the CHE Ranking once again confirms our previous accolades as Germany’s most popular university and that we can continue to offer our students an optimal environment for their studies,” said Vice President Wolff.

Background: The CHE University Ranking

The CHE University Ranking is considered a comprehensive comparison of universities in the German-speaking world and has been published for more than twenty years in the ZEIT Study Guide as well as online on the HeyStudium platform. For the current 2026/27 edition, approximately 35,000 students at 265 universities were surveyed about their study conditions.

This year’s focus included, among other things, law and economics. On average, students rated their overall study situation at 4.2 out of 5 stars, painting a generally positive picture of study conditions in Germany. The ranking enables prospective students to make a detailed comparison of universities and degree programs and offers guidance in choosing a course of study by highlighting the respective strengths of individual programs.
