The University Council of Hof University of Applied Sciences elected the university’s Vice Presidents at a meeting on Friday. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Wolff was re-elected as Vice President Teaching and Continuing Education. Prof. Dr. Gerald Schmola, who will be responsible for Research, Development and Entrepreneurship in the future, is a new member of the university management team, succeeding Prof. Dr.-Ing. Valentin Plenk, who is leaving office at his own request. Both Vice Presidents of Hof University of Applied Sciences have thus been elected until 30.09.2029.

Prof. Wolff, who has held the position of Vice President Teaching since 2015, thanked the University Council for their renewed trust:
‘The positive development in teaching is a joint achievement – by committed teaching staff, motivated students and a university that continuously invests in quality. I look forward to continuing on this path together.”

Change in research, development and entrepreneurship
Prof. Schmola is now Vice President for Research, Development and Entrepreneurship. He has worked at Hof University of Applied Sciences since 2011 and was most recently Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary and Innovative Sciences. He comments on his election:
‘I would like to thank you very much for your trust. Research, transfer and start-up culture are key drivers of innovation and regional development. I would like to contribute to further strengthening these areas and providing new impetus.”

Appreciation
Prof. Plenk, who held the position for five years, draws a positive balance:

Under Prof. Plenk’s responsibility, the comprehensive research information system was integrated into the university’s website and the newly created “Dies Academicus” was established – an event that recognizes outstanding research achievements. Thanks to his work, Hof University of Applied Sciences is also involved in the REDIG doctoral center, which enables doctoral theses to be carried out at Hof University of Applied Sciences.
