Info to go: Knowing what’s going on as you walk by the “Lunch Break Info”

From the beginning of November, a new series of events will start at the university, which will take place every Wednesday in the entrance area of the A-building. The goal: to provide students with a lot of useful information about the university, the studies themselves, or about student initiatives, for example, in the shortest possible way. “campuls-digital” spoke to the organizing team about this.

They are looking forward to a lively response: Prof. Dr. Dietmar Wolff (Vice President Teaching Hof University of Applied Sciences; center), Johanna Kimler (Personal Assistant to the Vice President Teaching) and Eugen Hafner (Student Assistant)

What is meant by the new “Lunch Break Info”?

The students are to be provided with information relevant to them in a very uncomplicated way – “in passing”, as it were. Among other things, information booths of the student initiatives, information offers around studying (study office, study counseling, International Team, International Office, DAL), information about counseling offers, StartUpLab, university sports and much more is planned.

When exactly and how often will this take place?

The lunch break info sessions will take place regularly on Wednesdays between 1 and 2 p.m. in the entrance area of Building A starting on 03.11. We have deliberately chosen the location in front of the cafeteria, where many students pass by during their lunch break and thus become aware of the event. We are happy if students spontaneously take some time for the information offer while passing by.

How did you come up with the idea of offering this service as part of the Ministry of Science’s “Restart WS 2021” initiative?

We asked ourselves: What do our students need in order to arrive well at the university? And here we were expressly not only interested in our freshmen. Due to the Corona situation, many students in higher semesters have not yet experienced normal university life. In order to facilitate their arrival, it is particularly important to us to establish direct personal contact with the university’s facilities, representatives of student initiatives, counseling services, etc. We would like to establish uncomplicated contact with our students. We want to facilitate uncomplicated contact, be approachable and arouse curiosity. If you know the faces of the various offers, then it will be easier later on to seek out a counseling offer or participate in an event offer when needed.

What do the organizers hope to achieve with the campaign?

We want to show how diverse our offer is in terms of support for successful studies, student initiatives and leisure activities, and that there is something suitable for everyone.
And we hope that our students will become aware of the university’s facilities and counseling services, and that they will get to know and use the contact points and contact persons for their concerns.

A “hot seat” has been announced as a special highlight – what does that mean?

At the “Hot Chair”, the President and other representatives of the university management will be available to answer students’ questions. We would like to see a lively participation of the students!

Use your chance to talk directly with the members of the university management and to place your questions, hints and perhaps also needs directly!”

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Wolff, Vice President Teaching at Hof University of Applied Sciences

Thank you for the information!
