Lucas Cranach Campus celebrates premiere as location of Hof University

They are here: After the official first semester days at the campus of the Hof University of Applied Sciences, the first students of the new study program Innovative Healthcare were now also welcomed at their new place of work in Kronach. The Lucas Cranach Campus Foundation, under the leadership of Chairman Hans Rebhan, invited them to a kick-off event in the Kühnlenzpassage Kronach. In an informal setting, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the city of Kronach, the future teaching facilities, and each other.

Already in March of this year, the Lucas-Cranach-Campus had officially started with the study course “Autonomous Driving” of the Coburg University of Applied Sciences. With the kick-off event for “Innovative Healthcare” and the starting signal for the first semester, the LCC now also celebrated its official premiere as a new location of Hof University of Applied Sciences.

Room for courage and creativity

“In Kronach, innovative minds will in future work out visions for the use of new technologies in health and social care and bring them to life. What counts here is the opinion, creativity and motivation of each individual” said university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann during a talk moderated by Dr. Markus Neufeld to welcome the 13 new students. And further

We want to break new ground together with the students in our first Kronach degree program. And we also want Kronach to be a co-creative campus that develops exciting things together with the students. We want a campus that welcomes participation!”

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann (University President)

At the introductory event in Kronach’s Kühnlenzpassage, Bavaria’s Minister of Science Bernd Sibler (via video message), Kronach’s 1st Mayor Angela Hofmann and District Administrator Klaus Löffler, among others, also conveyed their good wishes and tips for the region to the new students.

Unique offer in Germany

With the study course Innovative Health Care, the Hof University of Applied Sciences at the Lucas-Cranach-Campus in Kronach offers an offer that is unique in this form

Through the interdisciplinarity of the study program, we immerse ourselves in a wide variety of disciplines such as technology, computer science, engineering, health and social services or even management and link them together.”

Prof. Dr. Gerald Schmola (Head of the Innovative Healthcare program)

Students are supported not only by experienced professors, but also by mentors who encourage innovation and offer support at all times. In cooperation with local companies from the healthcare sector, the course content is also taught in a practical manner.

Insights with pleasure

During the introductory day, the new first-semester students had the opportunity to get to know the city of Kronach in a way that even some locals have probably not seen before: After the official part, they first visited the Kronach city tower and the grape cellar. In addition to a small wine tasting, the new residents of Kronach also had the opportunity to taste chocolates. A cellar guidance in the upper city followed just the same, like a view of the new university premises in the Kulmbacher road 11

With the Golfclub Kronach e.V., the Turnerschaft Kronach 1861 e.V., which organized a baseball tee-off training, and the ASC, three sports clubs also gave a first small overview of the wide range of clubs in the city.

Thanks to those involved

“In this context, we would also like to thank in particular the many committed clubs and private individuals who welcome our students with open arms and make their start in Kronach easier,” said Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann. The tour was followed by a relaxed “come-together” of all participants. On Monday, the first basic subjects will be on the agenda for the new students and their studies at LCC Kronach will begin.
