Münchberg Campus presents textile studies and research at the national conference of the Fachverband textil e.V.

Fachverband textil e.V. is celebrating its 50th anniversary and invited its members to the national conference “Helmbrechts – the closet of the world” in Upper Franconia from September 25 to 28, 2025.

Participants from all over Germany took the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss industry trends in depth.

The very varied four-day program took the participants to the Rohleder company in Konradsreuth and the textile museum in Helmbrechts, among other places. Thursday and Friday were dedicated to further training on the subject of vocational training. The group first visited the state vocational schools for textiles and clothing in Münchberg-Naila.

On Friday, September 26, professors Anett Matthäi and Martina Ziegenthaler then welcomed the 40 or so experts to the Münchberg campus of our university. Graduate designer Christine Scholl showed the guests around the campus with its state-of-the-art laboratories and production facilities used by the students in Münchberg.

Prof. Dr. Anett Matthäi from the Sustainable Textiles course then gave a lecture on research topics in the field of sustainability: “Ecodesign regulation – the path to durable and sustainable clothing?” and Prof. Martina Ziegenthaler gave insights into the final theses of textile design students: “Surface Body Space”. In the subsequent university lecturers’ forum, Prof. Dr. Anne-Marie Grundmeier from the Freiburg University of Education presented the project “TexUnite” – Service Learning on Sustainability in Textile and Fashion Education, a didactic approach that combines subject-specific learning with social commitment.

We are delighted that the Fachverband textil e.V. visited Münchberg and that the participants were so interested in our courses and our research in the field of textiles. The conference was an excellent platform for networking, knowledge transfer and the visualization of innovative approaches to teaching and didactics in the clothing and textile industry.”
