On May 31, 2022, the student advisors of the Bavarian colleges and universities met for a network meeting at the university. Doreen Rustler and Melanie Fiedler-Zapf from the Central Student Advisory Service welcomed a total of around 30 colleagues to Hof. Many of them were visiting the university for the first time and were impressed by the modern campus with its excellent technical equipment. The meetings of the student advisors take place regularly twice a year – due to Corona, it was the first personal reunion since the end of 2019.
Visit to Einstein1 and the MakerSpace
At the start of the one-day program, Prof. Dr. Marco Linß introduced the Hof MINT Steering Wheel to the visitors. With its MINT activities, the university wants to support prospective students in their orientation and actively accompany students throughout their studies, especially in the introductory phase. Afterwards, Doreen Rustler and Melanie Fiedler-Zapf gave their colleagues a tour of the campus. The entrepreneurial exchange, which took place that day and featured more than 80 regional and national companies that presented themselves to the fair participants in buildings A and B, met with great interest on the part of the guests. They were equally enthusiastic about the creative environment of the digital startup center Einstein1, which has been the contact point for founders and startups from Hochfranken since 2017, and the MakerSpace in Building C.
Lively professional exchange
In addition to getting to know the host university, the focus of these meetings is on exchanging information about the daily work in the student advisory services of the individual universities. For example, special features in the admission of certain courses of study or in the distribution of responsibilities were discussed.
After the long Corona break, everyone realized how important personal contact and direct exchange are. Therefore, all participants are already looking forward to the next network meeting – hopefully then again in presence.
