After 25 years at Hof University, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Brigitte Bärnreuther retired at a small ceremony. Vice President Prof. Dr.-Ing. Plenk presented her with a certificate of thanks from the Free State of Bavaria.
Brigitte Bärnreuther studied computer science at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, where she also received her doctorate in 1992. Since 01.10.1997 she is professor for “Automation Techniques/CAx-Techniques” and later also for “Operational Information Systems/CAx-Techniques” at Hof University of Applied Sciences. During her time as professor she temporarily took over the office of the dean of the faculty of computer science and technology and was vice president research and development at Hof University of Applied Sciences from October 2005 to September 2011. On July 16, 2016, she celebrated her 25th anniversary of service.
Colleague Bärnreuther or better Brigitte is almost one of the last colleagues who started at the university before me. In her 25 years at the university, she has taken on just about every possible task at one time or another and has also championed the interests of the students. We will miss her, but I wish her all the best for her well-deserved retirement.

And further: “But Brigitte will stay with us for a while as a lecturer.”
Looking back on her time at Hof University
Bärnreuther has particularly fond memories of her “fast-paced” first semesters at Hof University of Applied Sciences.
Right at the beginning, I was allowed to travel to Great Britain and the USA to establish international partnerships for the new degree program in sales engineering, the management of which was assigned to me after just a few weeks.”

The Central Franconian will miss above all her colleagues, the contact with young people and also a bit of Upper Franconia.
Plans and wishes for retirement
At the present time, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Brigitte Bärnreuther wishes above all for the continuation of peace in Europe and also for her personal health. Nothing should then stand in the way of her future plans:
In my retirement I will continue what I have always enjoyed doing: Cycling tours, running and triathlon, traveling, making music and computer tinkering. And maybe I’ll get a four-legged friend again soon.”
