Roland Martin was a laboratory employee at the Faculty of Engineering at Hof University of Applied Sciences for 22 years. In a small ceremony at Hof University of Applied Sciences, university president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.. Jürgen Lehmann, Chancellor Dagmar Pechstein, as well as colleagues and direct superiors, paid tribute to Roland Martin
Mr. Martin was an integral and important part for our faculty – not only as a colleague, but especially as a supervisor of students in various internships. With a lot of expertise and know-how, he always realized new experimental setups that were integrated into the internships. He was also our safety and laser protection officer.”
Prof. Dr. Marco Linß from the engineering faculty
Roland Martin became aware of the position at Hof University of Applied Sciences through the daily newspaper in 2000. Specialized in mechanical engineering, CNC and control technology and due to his experience in adult education, which he had gained as an instructor at the Chamber of Crafts, the position was a perfect fit for him. In his 22 years of service, he particularly remembers a visit to a French company:
Together with a colleague, I had to travel to the company Fours Industrial BMI for an assignment. Even though we didn’t experience much of France, the French flair alone in this company pleased me so much that I still remember it fondly today.”

Passing on life experience
Although Roland Martin supervised and managed many projects – the most important and at the same time the most enjoyable part of his job for him was always working with the students
Mr. Martin was always appreciated by the students. Due to his broad expertise, he always had answers to the most diverse questions in his role as supervisor. His dedication was unparalleled.”
Chancellor Dagmar Pechstein
Passing on his life experience – not only professionally, but above all for the future development of students – that is what Roland Martin will miss most in his retirement.
