The Hof University of Applied Sciences starts the winter semester 2021/22 with more than 900 first-semester students and thus continues its growth course. A total of around 3,800 students are now enrolled at the Hof, Münchberg, Kronach and Selb campuses (up 5.5% on the same time last year). This is the highest level since the university was founded
Particularly noteworthy: More than 40 percent more applications were received for the new semester than in the previous year.
It is clear: Our growth comes largely from the international and English-language master’s programs. Their attractiveness and the internationalization strategy of our university ensure that the university continues to grow despite the adverse conditions of the pandemic!”
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann, President of the University
He continued, “This is where I see the greatest potential for development in the future.” As the total number of enrollees continues to rise, so does the number of students from other countries. While 764 foreign students were enrolled in Hof last year, this number has now risen to around 1100. “However, our foreign students will of course not all be in Hof together due to the existing technical possibilities,” the university president continued.
Master’s applications almost doubled
The significantly larger number of applicants overall – it rose from almost 4000 in the previous year to now around 5800 – is mainly due to the interest in the master’s programs. In this area, there was almost a doubling of applications compared to the last winter semester. This growth is due in particular to applicants from abroad. The English-language master’s programs in Münchberg and Hof are of particular interest to prospective students. However, the new bachelor’s degree programs in Design and Mobility (Selb), Economic and Organizational Sociology (Hof), Innovative Healthcare (Kronach) and the Administrative Informatics program (Hof) also met with great interest.
Campus rally at the start
The new students at Hof University of Applied Sciences were welcomed to the Hof campus during the first semester days and provided with a wide range of information about the university, subjects and campus. Among other things, there was the opportunity to get to know the new place of work in the context of an app-supported campus rally. For the students on the Lucas-Cranach-Campus in Kronach (02.10.) as well as at the learning location Selb (04.10.) there will be another introduction event.
