Seminar in Münchberg: Basic textile knowledge for industry

Starting tomorrow (18-20.10.23) the seminar “Textile Basics” will take place again at the Münchberg campus. It is aimed at companies in the textile industry from German-speaking countries – in particular at managers, employees and customers who have many points of contact with textile topics during their work, but do not have an education with a textile background.

The seminar takes place twice a year. Prof. Dr. Frank Ficker, Scientific Director of the seminar, explains, “Our campus, with its numerous laboratories, pilot plants and extensive machinery, offers excellent training conditions to bring even newcomers to the field of textiles closer to theory and practice in a targeted manner.”

The initial theoretical basics on the textile chain are followed by more in-depth study through examples and applications. In addition to practical experiments in the chemical laboratory, the main focus is on explaining how the equipment functions during operation.

The seminar contents:

  • Basic introduction: the textile chain
  • Yarn production: Yarn manufacturing processes and their products
  • Weaving technology: Weaving technologies. Weave types and special weaving techniques
  • Knittingtechnology: basic concepts and main processes of knitting technology, binding elements, binding groups and product examples of knitted fabrics and fitted knitted fabrics
  • Nonwovens: Overview of production, types and uses of nonwovens
  • Textile finishing: overview of pretreatment, dyeing, printing of textiles with consideration of ecological aspects
  • Finishing: Industrial finishing processes, in particular mechanical/thermal and chemical finishes, test methods
