At its meeting on Friday, 22 March 2024, the University Council elected Prof. Dr. Diane Ahrens as its new Chair. Prof. Ahrens succeeds Prof. Dr. Dieter Baums, who had been Chair since 2015.
Prof. Ahrens was Professor of International Business Management and Logistics at Hof University of Applied Sciences from 2003-2009 and then accepted a position at Deggendorf Institute of Technology for personal reasons. There – in addition to her teaching – she heads a 40-strong research team at the Grafenau Technology Campus, specializing in digitalization and artificial intelligence, which is responsible for three of the five digital model villages in Bavaria, among other things. University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann and Prof. Dr. Willi Darr, Chairman of the Senate and Deputy Chairman of the University Council, congratulated Prof. Ahrens.

The University Council is the highest body of the university, comparable to the supervisory board of a company. One of its tasks is to elect the university management.
Congratulations.
