VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof is once again committed to the Hof University of Applied Sciences and thus to the educational prospects in the region. Within the scope of a donation in the amount of EUR 5,000 from the net proceeds of the VR Gewinnsparverein Bayern e.V., teaching and classrooms at the Selb learning center are to be equipped with the perfect fit.
This year’s grant will specifically support the project “Compressed Air – Mobility and Infrastructure”, a project work of the study course Design and Mobility under the direction of Prof. Lutz Fügener. This is currently taking place in the subject “Exterior / Intermodal Transport” and in cooperation with the Wunsiedel municipal utilities. The project aims to use compressed air both as an energy storage medium and for direct use as fuel for vehicles. “Particularly attractive are the already technically available possibilities to use wind energy directly to compress air and to use compressed air in thermal engines to power vehicles,” says course director Prof. Lutz Fügener. The students in the 3rd semester are concerned “both with the conception and design of the regional infrastructure – from the private house system to the communal or universally applicable architecture of an air reservoir or filling station – and with an exemplary compressed air vehicle,” Prof. Fügener explains the research approach
Concretely, working materials such as drawing pads made of special paper, drawing pens, adhesive tapes and foils for a design-typical representation method traditionally used in the automotive industry or also certain models to explain and apply the basics of vehicle technology are to be purchased.
