Hydrogen as a future drive: Bavarian-Bohemian project sheds light on the mobility of tomorrow

Another event of the “HyBaBo – Hydrogen Bavaria Bohemia” project took place at the end of October at the Einstein1 digital start-up center in Hof. The focus was on the topic of “Hydrogen in mobility”. Around 50 guests from politics, business and industry learned about current developments and opportunities in the hydrogen economy. The HyBaBo project aims to promote the development of a cross-border hydrogen economy between Bavaria and Bohemia.

The project is supported by Hof University of Applied Sciences, the East Bavarian Technical University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden and the Chamber of Commerce of the Karlovy Vary district. It is funded by the European Union as part of the Interreg program. Numerous districts and independent cities in the region are also actively involved. The aim is to network research, business and politics across national borders and to promote the market ramp-up of hydrogen technologies.

Focus on research at Hof University of Applied Sciences

The event was scientifically supported by Hof University of Applied Sciences. After the welcome by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tobias Plessing, Dr. Stefan Bayer (both from Hof University of Applied Sciences) moderated the program. Prof. Dr. Fridtjof Langenhan introduced the Federal Logistics Associations and emphasized the growing importance of sustainable drives for transport and supply chains.

Ten presentations, two languages, one goal

A total of ten presentations were offered, including seven specialist lectures (two of which were in Czech). The event was interpreted simultaneously in order to promote the Bavarian-Czech exchange of knowledge. The topics ranged from vehicle technologies and logistical challenges to political framework conditions.

The day was characterized by a positive mood: “Numerous ongoing projects and new political signals, such as the Hydrogen Acceleration Act and the “No to the end of combustion engines”, show that the hydrogen economy is gaining momentum”

Dr. Stefan Bayer, co-organizer

During the breaks and after the official part, the opportunity for networking and professional exchange was used intensively.
