Science up close: Hof University invites you to the “Night of Science 2025”!

After the great success in 2023 (“Night of Science 2023” – The pictures!) with around 2000 enthusiastic visitors, Hof University of Applied Sciences will once again open its doors for the “Night of Science” on Friday, November 14, 2025. From 6 p.m. to midnight, the campus will be transformed into a place full of discoveries, discussions and inspiration. Under the motto “Hands-on university!”, Hof University of Applied Sciences presents itself as a lively meeting place for all those who want to experience science up close.

Whether exciting experiments, thrilling science shows, fascinating guided tours or creative hands-on activities – visitors can once again immerse themselves in the world of research, teaching and innovation on this evening. Entertaining presentations on topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, hydrogen, textile technologies and virtual reality will show what research is currently being carried out at Hof University of Applied Sciences – practical, future-oriented and presented in a way that everyone can understand.

With over 100 lectures and program items, all faculties and research institutes at Hof University of Applied Sciences will be taking part in the “Night of Science” and making the diversity of the university visible in all its breadth. Visitors can look forward to original and exciting contributions – such as “Mathematics in dating”, “How makerspaces, repair cafés and do-it-yourself are changing our world”, “Man versus machine” or “Glibber attack – do-it-yourself slime”.

Everyday topics such as “Relaxed and focused: How to overcome digital distractions and stress” or “More security in everyday life – simply securing business processes” show that science is anything but dry. The Night of Science thus offers a colorful mix of technology, the environment, business and creativity – and invites you to marvel, think and participate.

An evening with many highlights

In addition to numerous presentations and activities in the laboratories and institutes, guests can also look forward to a varied supporting program: music, culinary specialties and an atmospherically illuminated campus create a unique ambience that combines science and experience. A special highlight this year: as part of the “3rd Dies Academicus 2025”, a special lecture series will be offered for the first time for the “Night of Science”, which will address current research topics and socially relevant issues – excitingly presented by academics from the university. Fresh from their research and teaching innovation semesters, they will talk about topics such as “AI in everyday life”, “Why de-bureaucratization doesn’t work” and why “democracy is under stress”. In addition, young researchers will be awarded teaching and research prizes via a direct vote.

Reunions, networking, shaping the future

The alumni reunion also celebrates its comeback on this evening: Former students of Hof University of Applied Sciences are cordially invited to refresh old contacts, make new ones and reminisce together – in the middle of the lively atmosphere of the “Night of Science”.

“Abi goes Campus” – invitation to prospective students

This year’s invitation is particularly aimed at pupils in the 12th and 13th grades of grammar schools and technical colleges in the region. Under the motto “Abi goes Campus”, they can get a taste of campus life, discover the courses on offer in a specially designed Abi Lounge and be inspired by the diversity of Hof University of Applied Sciences.

Delighted with the new edition

“The response to the first ‘Night of Science’ was overwhelming – the enthusiasm of the visitors has motivated us to continue this special format,” says University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann.

With the new edition, we want to show how exciting, creative and approachable science can be. At the same time, we are very much looking forward to welcoming many familiar faces again – from our alumni to future students from the region.”

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann, President of the University

He adds: “Over 100 program items are waiting to be discovered – from fascinating experiments to lectures and hands-on activities. Everyone can choose what they want in advance and plan their own personal evening full of science and adventure.”

The program of the “Night of Science 2025” will soon be available at: www.hof-university.de
