With the presentation of the corresponding certificate, Prof. Dr. Ronald Hechtfischer has now been bid farewell by University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann. Born in Hof, he had held the Chair of Corporate Management in the Faculty of Engineering since 1998. He was also the founding chairman of the university’s alumni association for many years.
Prof. Ronald Hechtfischer, who initially studied business administration at the University of Bayreuth and obtained his doctorate in 1990, also worked there as a research assistant and managing director of the Business Administration Research Center for SME Issues (BF/M-Bayreuth) before moving to a medium-sized industrial company as head of human resources and logistics in 1991. finally, in 1998, he took over the professorship at Hof University of Applied Sciences, which he has filled with life ever since and which has also earned him a good reputation among students. In 2014, he was awarded third place in the nationwide “Professor of the Year” competition.
During his work, Hechtfischer’s research focused on strategic corporate management, human resources management, employee management, sales management and sales communication as well as, of course, preparing specialists for management tasks.
As a member and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Viessmann Kältetechnik (2007 – 2012) and as Managing Partner of alpha Top Management Consulting, Frankfurt am Main and the online management portal Alpha-online.de in Hof, he continued to contribute his expertise directly to the business world.
On his departure, he looked back on his work with satisfaction:
‘The decision to accept a professorship at Hof University of Applied Sciences in 1998 was the best professional decision in my life. I can say that I have enjoyed working at our university for over 25 years. I have always enjoyed the contact with many great young people. We were and are simply a great team!”
Prof. Dr. Ronald Hechtfischer
According to Hechtfischer, his work as a founding member and Chairman of the Board of Alumni Hochschule Hof e.V., the association with the largest number of members at Hof University of Applied Sciences, has given him particular pleasure over the years. As the initiator and initial organizer, he was also able to help develop the Entrepreneur Exchange at the university into the largest university contact fair in northern Bavaria: “We started with 12 exhibitors in 1999 and later had over 100 exhibitors at times,” he recalls.
University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann praised Hechtfischer as a highly committed, reliable and pleasant colleague who has made a great contribution to the development of Hof University of Applied Sciences.
Prof. Hechtfischer himself would like to take a step back professionally after a forthcoming change of residence, but is still pursuing some exciting projects. For example, he is keen to write another book:
“The working title is: How to systematically demotivate employees! The reason is simple: over the last 30 years, I have met so many incompetent, self-absorbed and self-centered personalities who have run entire companies, departments and employees into the ground in management positions. I want to tell these stories in a humorous way so that I can draw relatively simple lessons from them for future generations,” he explains.
After all, good leadership and professional management are not that difficult. You just have to not take yourself too seriously.
