2. First place in start-up competition: “Smart Zavod” successful at future conference

Anton Yakhno and Oleksii Solntsev, Master Mechanical Engineering graduates from Hof University of Applied Sciences and founders of the startup Smart Zavod, took second place in the startup competition at the Future Conference in Leipzig. We say congratulations!

The founders of the startup Smart Zavod (Ukrainian for Smart Factory) are graduates of the master’s program in mechanical engineering with a focus on simulation technology at Hof University of Applied Sciences. The two founders, who come from Ukraine, developed the prototype for a fully automated 3D printer with the help of Hof University’s Kickstart startup program . The innovation here is that the printer can process up to 30 different materials and has up to eight tools that can be changed automatically. With this development, they have already won several startup awards, including first place at the Ukrainian Startup Fund with a winning prize of $25,000. The jury at the Future Conference in Leipzig, organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, was also impressed: Anton and Oleksii were able to hold their own in competition with a total of 13 teams from all over Germany

Currently, the two founders are applying for the EXIST-Gründerstipendium. The jury is expected to make its decision in the next few days. If they are successful, the team will receive around 100,000 euros in funding, which will allow them to concentrate completely on the further development of their idea for one year. We keep our fingers crossed. More information about Smart Zavod is available at www.smartzavod.com
