An exchange of ideas at eye level and discussion of current problems in the field of information technology – that’s what it’s all about when IT managers from regional companies meet twice a year at the Institute for Information Systems at Hof University of Applied Sciences (iisys). Now it was time again: At the 24th meeting of this kind, there was room for a little melancholy in addition to interesting presentations: Norbert Schug, IT manager of the company LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Holding GmbH & Co KG, a founding father of the meeting, went into well-deserved retirement. Together with Rolf Brilla from the IT Cluster Upper Franconia, Schug had the idea for a regular exchange of IT specialists in 2010.
After the welcome by iisys institute director Prof. Dr. René Peinl, many words of thanks were addressed to the outgoing organizer: Prof. Dr. Richard Göbel, Rolf Brilla and Dr. Alois Kastner-Maresch paid tribute to the achievements of Norbert Schug, who had repeatedly provided enormous support in organizing the IT managers’ meeting over a period of 12 years. Small gifts and a trophy were presented as an expression of thanks.
In-depth insights into IT security
Afterwards, the participants were once again able to get ideas on the topic of IT security. Traditionally, three topics were examined in more detail in the form of presentations. Marco Di Filippo from whitelisthackers GmbH in Bamberg reported “From the diary of a penetration tester”. Andreas Ernstberger from ProComp GmbH in Marktredwitz came to Hof. In his contribution, he addressed the topic of “Corporate security through Sophos Managed Threat Response”. Finally, Melanie Wächter from BM Digital Consulting GmbH in Hof rounded off the lecture program with her remarks on emergency management.
After the presentations, the ideas were further deepened in stimulating discussions between participants and speakers over snacks and finger food. The event was once again fully booked.
