Award: Researcher Jessica Wittmann among 100 top female innovators

Award for Jessica Wittmann: The researcher from the Institute of Materials Science at Hof University of Applied Sciences (ifm) was included by the Austrian business magazine “Sheconomy” in this year’s list of 100 remarkable female innovators in the DACH region (Germany – Austria – Switzerland). The women portrayed in this list represent courageous and innovative changes in many parts of society.

In the “Manufacturing & Robotics” category, in which a total of twelve women are honored, the magazine refers to Jessica Wittmann’s research into novel, antimicrobial surface coatings made from sustainable raw materials such as cinnamon or crab shells, which reduce germ contamination. These surfaces are intended for use in hospitals or public areas, among other places. They are intended to inhibit the spread of pathogens.

Jessica Wittmann, who is currently working on her doctorate at Chemnitz University of Technology (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), was awarded the Special Research Prize by the Society of Friends and Sponsors of Hof University of Applied Sciences for her work as early as 2022.

To the magazine…
