On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, pupils were able to discover how to make a NAO robot play soccer or drive a vehicle by itself at the Computer Science Info Day at Hof University of Applied Sciences.
At the Computer Science Info Day, prospective students and their families had the opportunity to find out about study programmes and practical opportunities at the Faculty of Computer Science. Professors Prof. Dr Sven Rill, Prof. Dr Ina Günther, Prof. Dr Sebastan Leuoth , Prof. Dr Johannes Michael and course ambassador Vincent Tischler were on hand at the Hof campus for personal talks and showed autonomously controlled vehicles, NAO and industrial robots in action in the laboratories as well as our photo studio with Model Jane.
The prospective students were interested in specific course content and asked many questions, such as How do we handle a semester abroad? How good is it to find an apartment in Hof and how expensive is it? What are the job prospects overall and in the region, or how does the dual study programme work? They particularly enjoyed the campus and laboratory tours, trying out robotics and virtual reality and talking to current students.
Prof. Ina Günther, Head of the Media Informatics programme
There are also small groups at Hof University of Applied Sciences – it’s like a family, adds Prof Günther. With a direct line to professors and programme ambassadors who you can always ask. It’s an education for practice, not just theory like at a university.
Bachelor’s degree programmes in computer science, media informatics, business informatics, mobile app development and computer science are very practice-oriented and are also available in the form of a dual study programme. Studying at the Faculty of Computer Science prepares you for a career in databases, IT security, web development, applied machine learning, software development, game and UX design, app programming, cloud computing as well as data analysis and data mining.
Not sure which degree programme is right for you? Our central student counselling service will be happy to help.
