Congratulations on your service anniversary: Holger Karl – 25 years in the service of IT

Andrea Graf, Head of Human Resources, honored Holger Karl, an employee of the IT & Projects department, for his 25 years of public service. She presented him with a certificate of thanks from the Free State of Bavaria and thanked him for his many years of commitment to the university. Fun fact: Andrea Graf was also the person who hired Mr. Karl at the university almost 25 years ago.

Professional career

Holger Karl has been working at Hof University’s computer center, now the IT & Projects department, since February 1, 2002. After studying electrical engineering (specializing in communications engineering) at Coburg University of Applied Sciences from 1990 to 1995, he initially worked in PC user service at Rehau AG from 1996 to 2001. His current work at our university focuses on the technical support of the Primuss Campus Management System, the administration of web servers and the financial administration program HIS FSV. He is also involved in the further development of other IT systems and specialist applications.

New challenges and further developments in IT

25 years in public service – almost the entire time at the university. A long time, which speaks volumes for the working environment and culture at our university.

Mr. Karl, what do you particularly like about your job at Hof University of Applied Sciences?

From a technical point of view, I am responsible for a wide range of tasks with constantly new challenges and developments in IT and at the university. It never gets boring and the day-to-day work remains exciting. IT is essential for teaching and administration, and we all do particularly meaningful work together: we train students.

The university also offers a very pleasant working environment with its campus grounds with direct access to nature, many further education and health offers as well as great events such as the Night of Science, flexible working hours and good human interaction in the entire university team.

The campuls editorial team would like to join in the congratulations on the anniversary and wishes all the best for the future!

Kirsten Hölzel
