Delegation visit: Cooperation with University of Technology Thanyaburi to be continued

In mid-December 2022, a 13-member delegation from the Thai Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) visited Hof University of Applied Sciences. The group, which included deans from various engineering disciplines, was led by the local president, Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art.

The aim of the visit was the extension of the “Memorandum of Understandings” about the cooperation of both universities. This was first signed ten years ago in Hof, which was also snow-covered at the time. In recent years, the pandemic had caused cooperation to slacken.

All the greater is the joy for the coming years. The representatives of RMUTT took two days to get to know the engineering sciences at Hof University of Applied Sciences with its locations in Münchberg and Hof in more detail. The university employees spent the first day at the Münchberg site with a guided tour of the facilities there. The technological equipment was impressive, and initial arrangements were made for research visits by RMUTT lecturers

The guests followed the presentations of Professors Koukal, Rauch and Matthäi on various topics with great interest. Lectures and lively discussions were held on sustainable textiles as the future of the textile industry as well as on the challenges for sustainable textiles in the lecture “A challenge for sustainable textiles: biobased, biodegradable and avoiding microplastics”.

On the second day at the Hof campus, the delegation got to know the innovative study concept of the Bachelor of Engineering Sciences, presented by the Dean Prof. Dr. Anke Müller. Sunshine and beautiful winter weather quickly broke the ice between the colleagues from RMUTT and those from Hof University of Applied Sciences during the tour of the campus and some laboratory facilities such as the MakerSpace.

The participants from both universities developed concrete ideas for further cooperation such as student exchange, research and teaching cooperation and conference participation. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for another five years was the highlight of the visit to the university, which ended with a joint and entertaining lunch with Christmas specialties from Hof.

The snowball fight so longed for by the guests fell victim to the powder snow, which did not want to be formed into balls at all! Maybe it will work out next time.
