With its two degree programs in “Digital Business” and “Digital Administration,” Hof University of Applied Sciences has a unique offer for anyone who wants to study for a bachelor’s degree while working. The lectures are completely online and take place twice a week in the evenings, so that students can easily pursue a full-time job while studying. The aim of the courses is to provide future managers in business and administration with the latest knowledge in the field of digitization so that they can shape the digital transformation in the best possible way.
The two study programs have been consistently developed further against the background of future requirements for part-time study and are now being implemented completely under the direction of Hof University of Applied Sciences. Especially in the field of digital administration, the offer is so far unique nationwide.
Access also through work experience and completed training
The courses of study are primarily aimed at employees of companies and administration who want to actively participate in the development of digitalization.
“The offer was generally developed for people who want to study and further their education flexibly and while working – this can certainly also be people without a formal university entrance qualification. The entry requirement in this case is a completed, relevant vocational training and at least three years of professional experience,” says Prof. Dr. Jens Kirchner, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Hof University of Applied Sciences. The two online degree programs are also particularly appealing to young people who want to take up business studies with a digital focus after completing their (technical) university entrance qualification, but who would like to work in a company at the same time.
Further education for the next career step
The focus of teaching in the two degree programs is on important business or administration topics as well as in the area of current digitization opportunities:
Graduates are likely to have attractive career opportunities in both specialist and management roles. By earning a bachelor’s degree, you can consistently continue to qualify for the next career step alongside your job.”
Prof. Dr. Thomas Meuche, Director of Studies
Experienced teaching staff and interactive concepts
Hof University of Applied Sciences, which otherwise relies heavily on face-to-face teaching, offers a clear advantage for the already working target group by offering the two degree programs online. However, online study is also a decisive advantage for first-year students who want to gain part-time work experience alongside their studies. In addition, however, some targeted block events are to be held on the Hof campus to bring students closer to the region and to make an important contribution to social networking through personal exchange. “But here, too, the following applies: if students are unable to attend in person for important reasons, flexible online participation is welcome and guaranteed,” say those responsible.
Another plus of the offerings: All lectures are taught by experienced professors from the university or by selected lecturers with many years of expertise in the respective subject area.
“Individual teaching concepts in which there is interaction with the students are particularly important to us”
Prof. Dr. Jens Kirchner, Dean
Practice-oriented content for direct use
Another argument in favor of the choice of the two degree programs is that no conventional, business management concepts are simply transferred online into a continuing education model, but that the content is designed to be completely practice-oriented and geared to the requirements of digital transformation: “This means that students can immediately apply current know-how in the company,” says program director Prof. Dr. Thomas Meuche.
Attractive tuition fees
The tuition fees for the “Digital Economy” and “Digital Administration” degree programs are EUR 1,650 per semester plus the student union fee. This corresponds to monthly tuition fees of €275. The study program is designed to be completed in 6 semesters – with one practical semester being credited through proof of relevant work experience acquired before or even during the study program. Thus the fees for the entire study are 9,900 EUR.
University yard wants to strengthen further training
University president Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. J?rgen Lehmann would like to develop the training further offer of the university soon still further:
The university yard sets for always strongly on the topic further training, both within the national and within the international range – after all further training represents also one of the substantial columns of the higher education in Bavaria. In the next few years, we would now like to specifically expand and further develop our national continuing education offerings in the form of study programs at bachelor’s and master’s level, but also with flexible certificate solutions.”
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann, University President
