VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof has been committed to Hof University of Applied Sciences for many years and thus to the educational prospects in the region. The donation from 2024 in the amount of €5,000 from the net proceeds of the profit savings will flow proportionally into two innovative and future-oriented projects at the university.
Support for the project “Development of an autonomous electric racing car” by HofSpannung Motorsport e.V.
The student initiative HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. is the university’s current Formula Student team. Formula Student is an international design competition for students in which teams from colleges and universities design, build and test their own formula racing cars. The students work together on the project in an interdisciplinary manner and contribute mechanical, manufacturing, electrical or commercial knowledge. They develop components themselves, accompany them through the entire product cycle and drive the racing car in competitions. The student initiative is now venturing down new paths in order to be able to tackle the topic of autonomous driving in the future. “Thanks to this donation, we can provide our next car “Apollo” with new drive and battery concepts as well as lay the foundation for autonomous driving in future vehicles,” says Niklas Moser, the initiative’s first board member.
Support for the international care congress at Hof University of Applied Sciences
Hof University of Applied Sciences is hosting the first International Nursing Congress “Global minds, local care” at its campus in Hof on 13.03.2025. The shortage of skilled nursing staff is on everyone’s lips. One option that could help solve the problem is the integration and recruitment of foreign nursing professionals. As part of the nursing congress, experts from international universities will provide exclusive insights into the education systems, skills and areas of employment in their countries of origin.
With regard to the sponsored projects, Bernd Schnabel, member of the Board of Management of VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof, is convinced of the long-standing commitment to the university:
As a leading credit institution in the region, we regularly support Hof University of Applied Sciences in the development of innovative projects from the net proceeds of our profit savings. We have been observing the extraordinary, forward-looking developments of the HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. team with great interest for years. We are witnessing a high level of technical excellence here, which needs to be preserved and promoted in Germany and especially here in Hof. With the other half of our donation, we are supporting the university in organizing the first international nursing congress next year at the Hof campus and the associated goal of establishing the university as a research partner in the field of international nursing.”
Thanks from the university president
University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lehmann expressed his thanks to Bernd Schnabel. “The donation from VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof, which goes far beyond the normal level in terms of regularity and amount, makes it clear how important the education of young people is to the donor,” emphasized Prof. Lehmann.
