University Receives ISO Certifications for Environmental and Energy Management

At the end of May 2026, the university successfully completed the recertification of its environmental management system under ISO 14001 and, for the first time, the certification of its energy management system under ISO 50001. This independent audit confirms the university’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental and resource protection, and energy-efficient university operations.

The successful implementation of the energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 represents an important milestone in the university’s strategic development. It underscores the university’s commitment to positioning itself sustainably as a “Green Tech University” and to taking responsibility for the sustainable use of energy and resources.

The two certifications demonstrate that environmental and energy aspects are systematically integrated into processes and decisions. The goal is to continuously reduce resource consumption, use energy efficiently, and permanently embed sustainable practices into the university’s daily operations.

A Joint Success for Many Stakeholders

The successful completion of the certifications is the result of the dedicated collaboration of numerous employees from various departments across the university. From the development and implementation of processes, through the preparation and support of the audits, to data collection and the responsible use of resources in daily operations, many stakeholders contributed to this success.

Further strengthening sustainability and energy efficiency

The university views the certifications as an incentive to consistently continue on the path it has chosen. In the coming months, the energy management system will be further expanded and refined, environmental and energy goals will be further specified, and measures will be implemented and tracked even more systematically. In addition, awareness of sustainable practices within the university will be further strengthened.
